This tutorial covers every step of cutting a file on the Thunder Laser Nova Plus machines using Lightburn. If you are looking for information about how to design in Lightburn, see this article instead - Lightburn Basics.
Moving your file to the laser computer
There are three main ways to get your lightburn file from your design computer to the computer that controls the laser.
1. Student File Server (easiest)
- Go to 10.240.0.125 on your design computer. (bookmark for later use)
- Click the upload icon in the top left and select your file.
- Open the file server on the laser computer and click the download icon.
- Note: this server is not for long-term storage and is wiped every day at midnight.
2. USB Drive
- Insert a USB drive into your design computer.
- File → Save As your Lightburn project into the usb drive.
- Insert the USB drive into the laser computer and copy to downloads.
- Note: Return the USB drive to its home when finished.
Google Drive (clunky)
- Upload your Lightburn project file to your Google Drive.
- Log in to your Google Drive on the laser computer and download your file.
- Note: a generic login is used on the lightburn computer so be sure to sign out of Google Drive before walking away
